The Case for Business Modelling
surveys reveal that the reach of these technologies inside organizations is largely superficial. At the same time, spreadsheet use continues to grow. One hundred and fifty million users of
Microsoft Excel are evidence that there is an unmet need for the BI industry to provide more
business modeling capabilities. Though modeling was front and center in the age of Decision
Support Systems 15-25 years ago, today BI is more concerned with reporting, Performance
Management, digital dashboards and, for a small number of power users, data surfing with
OLAP tools.
T-Mobile Case Study
Dashboard Manager allows T-Mobile to attend to multiple customers with the same issue. In the past, whereas one customer complaint letter may have led to meetings and discussions on that individual case, the attention today is on how to recognise similar problems from customers across the whole business and determine which solutions to offer them all.
According to Frank van Roekel, IT manager for the project, "It's remarkable that, even in the IT department, there continues to be more and more interest in the dashboard. It's a very reliable method for creating transparency and offering multiple departments access to the results of a number of activities."
Speedy Hire
Speedy Hire operates a number of separate lines of business under a single company umbrella, all of which had their own sales and support mechanisms.
As part of an effort to adopt a more tailored sales strategy, the company was looking for a business intelligence solution that can collect information from across various parts of the business and collate it into a single repository. Business Objects emerged among a number of leading BI vendors with a customised business intelligence solution that will help Speedy Hire to transform their business to a cohesive reporting machine.
Nutricia Case Study
Nutricia had the requirement to implement a Data Warehouse to deliver reporting capabilities to the U.K. userbase. It was critical that there was minimal interruption to the source systems,in this case mainly the existing ERP system. The U.K. Business Systems team at Nutricia is small and agile and has to deal with a broad spectrum of IT related issues. Consequently, there was only a limited level of experience within the in-house team of Data Warehouse design and development.
ITP, because of its specialist business intelligence and data warehousing knowledge, was invited to discuss Data Warehousing with Nutricia from the perspective of strategy, direction and implementing technology.
Millward Brown Case Study
Millward Brown’s existing business applications were able to supply the functionality required initially for their financial reporting, however IT Performs significantly enhanced the Business Intelligence capabilities within their Finance function to provide real-time, ad-hoc and automated standard financial reporting integrated with their existing Intranet portal deployment.
The Business Intelligence solution was successful enough to then be extended to cover the Estimating function and the assignment of personnel to the Market Research projects.

Cadbury Schweppes Case Study
IT Performs analysed the requirements and quickly understood the business issues and the data itself.
Over thirty data feeds were combined into a 'Logistics' data mart in an Oracle database. One of the main design objectives was to easily and efficiently meet business-reporting requirements and allow growth and change into the future. For example, initial feeds are weekly, but the system has been designed to easily accommodate daily feeds at a later stage. As a result IT Performs were engaged to design and build a Logistics data mart populated with......
