Information Design Tool Upgrade Workshop
Course Description
This one (or optional two) day SAP BusinessObjects Information Design Upgrade/Fast Track course (formerly the universe design course) provides all the skills needed to design, build and maintain a BusinessObjects universe in the new Design Tool. This course aims to give existing Universe Designers comfort and fluency to use the new tool and exploit the new features.
Delegates will learn the new information design concepts and terminology as well as the role of these universes in relation to creating a layer for a number of extraction tools within the SAP Business Objects Suite.
The new Information Design Tool allows multiple connections based on relational or flat file sources all within one single data foundation.
Through well-designed universes, report designers and business users will be able to create their own reports without having to know anything about the underlying data source or structure. Through a Master Business Layer or specific Business Layer Views, the report writer or consumer has seamless access to their required data through Business Language Objects that may well exist in different disparate sources and technologies.

Audience & Pre-requisites
This course is designed for existing Universe Designers, who have upgraded SAP Business Objects 4. The Audience will be Designers who wish to take advantage of the new Information Design Tool to either upgrade existing universes or create new unx files from scratch.
Exposure to SQL and previous Universe Design experience is essential.
Course Style
A large percentage of this workshop is practical based. Delegates will carry out activities throughout the workshops that are relevant to the BusinessObjects environment using a purpose-built training database.
Delivery & Duration
This is a 1-2 day, instructor led training course. Day one is learning the new tool and techniques. Day two is for a practical challenge and AOB. This training can be delivered either on your site or at our training suite in Birmingham.
