September 2007 - IT Performs Race Day 2007

Race Day Team Photo

On Wednesday 5th September we treated some of our top customers to a very special opportunity.

We invited 13 guests to the Silverstone track to experience the thrills of driving three exclusive cars around the full Grand Prix circuit.

Everyone had a fantastic day enjoying the opportunity to drive around the course in a Morgan Aero 8, a Caterham and a Clio Cup Car, in addition to a competition on the F1 Simulator.

Along the day there were a few special added extras; Les Ferdinand MBE, Luther Blissett, and MC Harvey (tags still on new Nike trainers) shared the garage next door to us. Also Jeremy Clarkson and the STIG (who unfortunately would not remove his helmet!) were on track practising for the 24 hour Brit Car Race.

At the end of the day everyone was presented with a certificate as the instructors evaluated the skills on show from each of our guests. For the record the roll of honour included the following people as testimony to their skills (or lack of them).

Driver of the Day:      Most Improved:      Fastest in the Sim:          Bent Valve:
Dave Thompson          Siu Wong               Jonathan Cox            Simon Mosley

Dave Thompson (Speedy Hire) was amazing racing the Clio Cup car. All of the instructors were very impressed with his driving skills and he could not wait to get another go. Siu Wong (FootFall) built her confidence throughout the session and by the end of the day she was very excited about the prospects of the Adrenaline Ride where the instructors take you around the circuit at about 70% racing pace. Siu enjoyed it so much she asked for another go whereas most people crawled out the cars quite shaken up! Jonathan Cox (Northgate) finally, after a highly competitive head to head with David Thompson where both drivers kept nudging ahead and reducing their lap time, won the trophy for the fastest lap in the F1 Williams simulator and the Bent Valve trophy went to Simon Mosley (Arval) when he took the Morgan out for a spin!

It was a great day for all attending and we are already planning what to do for 2008 so if you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

IT Performs Limited has announced today that it has won a million-pound-plus contract from Speedy Hire Plc to replace its existing data warehouse and implement Business Objects technology across the Group. The solution was chosen by Speedy Hire after several months of detailed evaluation by Speedy and independent IT consultants Blue Stone Business Solutions. The new applications will underpin strategic growth plans, and support better decision making, by opening up the data being captured within its new ERP and retail hire solution based on Microsoft Axapta. The contract was signed on Tuesday 26th June and was awarded in spite of some stiff competition from the other market leading Business Intelligence vendors. The breadth of the Business Objects toolset, including data integration, data quality, performance management and of course its easy to use query and reporting capability combined with the data warehousing and BI expertise from IT Performs presented the best value, single source, fully integrated, comprehensive solution that Speedy was looking for.

Our Director:

This is excellent news for all parties and is a great example of the added value an experienced and specialist BI consultancy, such as IT Performs, provides to companies embarking on the complex task of implementing enterprise BI solutions. The latest company acquisition by Speedy and its impressive year on year growth now makes this solution even more important as it will integrate with its Microsoft Axapta solution to empower much better use of its data and leverage more from their continued investment in technology to support its business goals. We won the contract on our ability to quickly understand Speedys requirements and our recommendation of a realistic, powerful and cost effective solutions, utilising the market leading Business Objects software.

The initial phases of this project are scheduled to be completed by Christmas 2007 and will align closely with the regional Axapta roll out. This project will significantly help with the integration of Speedys latest company acquisition; Hewden Tools. IT Performs prime focus will be on the data warehouse and corporate reporting solution to support better usability and provide accurate information in the right format, at the right time, in the right context to the right people at the right place, enabling Speedy Hires head offices and hundreds of depots to effectively rise above the competition by making better business decisions, acting more quickly and having a positive impact when and where it matters most. This new implementation from IT Performs and Business Objects will help ensure Speedy Hire remain number one in the UK hire market, continue to exceed its customer expectations whilst growing both revenue and profits to return healthy shareholder value.
