IT Performs Race Day 2007 |
September 2007 - IT Performs Race Day 2007On Wednesday 5th September we treated some of our top customers to a very special opportunity. We invited 13 guests to the Silverstone track to experience the thrills of driving three exclusive cars around the full Grand Prix circuit. Everyone had a fantastic day enjoying the opportunity to drive around the course in a Morgan Aero 8, a Caterham and a Clio Cup Car, in addition to a competition on the F1 Simulator. Along the day there were a few special added extras; Les Ferdinand MBE, Luther Blissett, and MC Harvey (tags still on new Nike trainers) shared the garage next door to us. Also Jeremy Clarkson and the STIG (who unfortunately would not remove his helmet!) were on track practising for the 24 hour Brit Car Race. At the end of the day everyone was presented with a certificate as the instructors evaluated the skills on show from each of our guests. For the record the roll of honour included the following people as testimony to their skills (or lack of them). Driver of the Day: Dave Thompson Dave Thompson (Speedy Hire) was amazing racing the Clio Cup car. All of the instructors were very impressed with his driving skills and he could not wait to get another go. Siu Wong (FootFall) built her confidence throughout the session and by the end of the day she was very excited about the prospects of the Adrenaline Ride where the instructors take you around the circuit at about 70% racing pace. Siu enjoyed it so much she asked for another go whereas most people crawled out the cars quite shaken up! Jonathan Cox (Northgate) finally, after a highly competitive head to head with David Thompson where both drivers kept nudging ahead and reducing their lap time, won the trophy for the fastest lap in the F1 Williams simulator and the Bent Valve trophy went to Simon Mosley (Arval) when he took the Morgan out for a spin! It was a great day for all attending and we are already planning what to do for 2008 so if you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
